One of the very interesting phenomena that is incorporated into the ideology of the New Age movement is that of the Indigo Children or as how they are often referred, the Children of Light. The concept of the Indigo child describes children who The New Age Movement perceives as an evolution of the humanity. The attributes of the Indigo Children are not universal, but differ quite substantially with the various versions, but most often they are believed to possess paranormal abilities, such as mind reading capability. On the other hand, others believe that an Indigo Child is just as normal as every other child, but distinguish itself from others with traits such as intense sensitivity, creativity and others. Such children are considered unique for their special skills, which is not typical for children born until now.
The term Indigo children came originally from the 1982 book "Understanding Your Life Through Color," by Nancy Ann Tappe , who was a self-proclaimed psychic, claiming to be able to perceive people's auras. The idea of Indigo children was later popularized by the 1998 book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by the husband-and-wife, Lee Carroll and Jan Tober who state:
"The Indigo Child is a boy or girl who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes, revealing a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. This pattern has singularly unique factors that call for parents and teachers to change their treatment and upbringing of these kids to assist them in achieving balance and harmony in their lives, and to help them avoid frustration."
There's a very good chance that a child born after 1992 is Indigo.
