Improvement Of Canada's Environmental Policies

While countries are developing, there are large amount of toxic and hazardous chemical produced.   People consider these chemicals as toxic waste and these chemicals have been singled out for their special short-run or long-run effectiveness.   Although the chemicals can improve the lives of everyone through new materials, food safety, health innovations, there is a downside. The toxic substances can have great damaging effects on ecosystems, human health, and urban environment. Canadian government has a couple policies to help preventing toxic wastes and toxic sites.   Unfortunately, these policies are not good enough.   Canadian government should adopt environmental policies from the United State to improve Canada’s environmental protection system.
Toxic Wastes have a close relationship to our urban life.   People desire to live in a healthy environment.   In the video Creating Our Future, the Great Vancouver Regional District wants to create a green zone protection area for Vancouver resident to live in.   A green protection zone will greatly improve the ecosystem, human health, and urban environment around the area.   Removing toxic wastes are very important for urban development.   In the article Toward an Urban Design Manifesto, Allan Jacobs and Donald Appleyard mention that “[p]eople, we have said should be able to live in reasonable (though not excessive) safety, cleanliness, and security.   That means liveable streets… clean air, trees, vegetation… with cleanliness and physical safety” (171).   Toxic wastes sites bring a lot of harmful problem to people’s daily life.   Canada is just beginning to address problems associated with toxic waste disposal and storage.   Since the standards of toxic waste management are much worse than those in the U.S, Canada is increasing the amount of import of toxic waste from other countries.
