OVERVIEW


Infectious diseases remain a major cause of illness, disability, and death. Immunization recommendations in the United States currently target 17 vaccine-preventable diseases across the lifespan (Health People,
2015).



Healthy People 2020 goals for immunization and infectious diseases are rooted in evidence-based clinical and community activities and services for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.

DEFENSES AGAINST
INFECTIOUS DISEASE







Proper use of vaccines
Antibiotics
Screening and testing guidelines
Scientific improvements in the diagnosis of infectious diseases related health concerns
Proper hand hygiene

FIVE STEPS TO
HANDWASHING






Wet hands with water.
Apply hand wash.
Lather and wash at least 15 seconds.
Rinse both sides of hands with water.
Dry hands and shut off faucet with towel. VACCINATIONS

CONTRAINDICATIONS/PR
ECAUTIONS


Tetanus, diptheria, pertussis (Tdap), tetanus, diphtheria (Td)
 Severe

allergic reactions
 Moderate or severe acute illness with or without fever
 History of Guillain-Barré Syndrome within 6 weeks of previous influenza vaccination
 For pertussis-containing vaccines: progressive or unstable neurologic disorder, uncontrolled seizures, or progressive encephalopathy until a treatment regimen has been established and the condition has stabilized

    The issue at hand here is “Is There Support for Arming Teachers in Schools?” This issue is argued by both Nirvi Shah, and The National School Safety and Security Services organization. Nirvi Shah believes yes there is support for arming teachers in schools, while The National School Safety and Security Services organization believes no there isn’t.
