Ideas for school captain speech
Good morning /afternoon teacher, students and parents. I stand here before you to discuss the reason why I want to be school captain for the following year, 2012.

For those who don’t know me, My name is Vedada Lazarevic and I have been attending to Eight Mile Plains State School for almost 6 wonderful years now which is since prep and I would be very honoured and privileged to represent my school as a leader.

I would give anything to be school captain or vice captain in the following year 2012, I feel I can be a positive leader and excellent role model for younger students as well as my peers. I am a confident, well mannered, approachable student, and a good representative of our school for these reasons. I am already familiar with leadership roles, having been on student council from the beginning of this year, and I also do childcare and sports bins and out of school grounds I am included in a basketball club which I most likely enjoy doing.

I believe the role of school captain is more than just a badge and a title. It means being a good leader and representative of the school, respecting your friends and peers, being trustworthy, and having pride in our school community.
I’d meet the challenge of being a school captain but I would approach it with enthusiasm and determination, an open mind and everyone’s best interest at heart.

If I am elected school captain I will make sure everyone feels comfortable and included and is doing the right thing, that preps and new students always feel welcome, and i'm willing to be open to listen to peoples idea's and opionions, and that the school grounds are always clean and tidy. Even if all these things mean giving up my lunch times and recesses, I am willing to dedicate my extra time that I have into being school captain and to the responsibilities that come with this honourable title.
Now, I have to admit that I don’t know everything, and I also know I’m not the smartest, sportiest or the tallest candidate for the job but I will promise you this, if you vote for me elected, I will put everything I can in to the role of school captain, because being a leader at Eight Mile Plains State Primary School would not only be a huge honour but it would be my biggest pleasure.

I will do whatever is needed to help our school and the people inside it, I am overflowing with ideas and ways to make our school a better place. This role demands time, effort, organisation and confidence as well as dedication. I cannot think of anything I could be more dedicated and passionate about than this school, and being school captain is one way to give back to Eight Mile Plains State School after all the things that it has given to me over the past six amazing years.

So, I truly believe that I would make a wonderful school captain as I have the ability to face the challenges there may be along the way, but in the end, I hope to make a difference and I know it will be a rewarding role.

Thank you for listening to my speech, and I hope that you vote for me.

Throughout my high school years, I maintained various leadership roles. The first of which was serving as a section leader in the marching band for three years. As a section leader, I was the example of how the section should act, present, and conduct them. I was also the captain of the golf and tennis teams, first leading by examples through my actions and then through my playing skills. At my home church, I am the Youth Director providing an example of how to live as a young Christian despite the temptation of peer pressure. While here at JMU, I am currently serving as a mentor at the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County Boys and Girls Club to disadvantaged to youth. Just furthering my education beyond high school is the primary and first example of leadership. The kids at the club can look to me and see that I was once just like them but I’ve pushed through and maybe they can…

Leadership is a lifestyle, not a role one adopts. Leadership requires strength and power, but also the ability to empathize and recognize others' needs. As a high school student, I have had many opportunities to be a leader, whether it be through clubs, group projects, or extracurricular activities. During my Junior year, I assistant directed the play Steel Magnolias under the eye of my drama teacher as well as a college student director. This role allowed me to learn the ropes of directing as well as take care of the six girls cast in the show. I adapted the role of the "stage mom," making sure every hair was curled to perfection and every prop was in its place, as well as ensuring their lines were memorized and their staging was proper. I…

There are very few people who are lucky enough to be a captain of a team. I am one of those lucky few people. On April 12, I had an audition to try out for a Color Guard Captain position. I had been waiting for that day since early February. On April 15th, the captains were announced. I heard my name, looked at Makayla Hurt, she heard her name, and we could not believe it. Over the weekend, I thought what can I do to help improve the team. Well I can improve skill, change attitude for the better, and how will the decision I made along with our coach of me being a captain affect the team.…

I have dedicated my heart and soul into my team. Always attending every event I could, and having my game face on ready for a win. There is something about stepping onto the pitchers mound ready to throw the first strike that makes me never want to leave the field. However an even better feeling is that sweet spot the ball hits when you power hit one to the gap in the outfield. Words can’t even explain how good that feels. My three years of dedication to this team paid off when I was promoted to captain on the varsity team my senior year. I got to show everyone that I could be a leader and lead everyone into victory. Being a captain doesn’t mean just ordering people around, it is much more then that. To be a leader you have to earn respect…

Leadership is one of the most important traits to have not only in school but outside too. In school, one can take up the position of being a leader by tutoring classmates. By helping a peer understand a topic they were confused about, a feeling of accomplishment and happiness comes along. One can also be a leader by being a part of a club and helping the club officers and other members reach their club goals. For example, I am part of the Environmental Club and I have been an active member since freshmen year. I have participated in many of the events put together by this club and have helped them in planning these events to ensure things run smoothly. At the moment, I am working with two friends on a marketing project for the tower gardens in school. If I am accepted into the National Honors Society, I will be able to gain more experience in being a leader and I will then be able to help the Environmental Club more in fulfilling more club goals. If accepted, I plan to take everything I learn from being a part of this society and apply it to my life.…

If I were chosen, I’m sure that I could help the squad surpass past years, and I could help every girl on the squad grow and become a better cheerleader. I have a strong belief that the change and growth in others affects you. I remember as I walked into the first tryout practice, last year, how nervous I was. I worked hard throughout that season to sharpen my physical and mental skills. Even though I’m far from perfect, if I continue to learn and get better, then I will influence and persuade others to do better. Growth will not only be seen in the abilities of the squad members, but in their attitudes. If I were a captain, I would make sure that everyone kept a positive outlook and worked harder than ever.…

Although I may not hold any official leadership positions, I believe that I possess the necessary characteristics needed in any good leader and enjoy utilizing them. The main place that I see myself as a leader is on the soccer field. On the JV soccer team for the last two years, I played nearly every available minute at center back, or middle defense, rarely coming off the field. As a player who can see nearly the entire field, a center back has many other jobs other than one on one defending. One of the center back's principle responsibilities is to make sure that all of the other nine outfield players are in the correct position.…

I show many qualities of leadership. As a patrol you are suppose to be a role model for kids. Be their leader and guide then from right to wrong. I was also a main player for my soccer team. If the captain were not there I would step up to the plate and guide our team to victory during games and keep everyone motivated and in line during practices. In school when there are group project I try my best to keep my friends in line and focused. I don’t take full control and we all chip in and complete the assignment. I dedicate spending my time or energy on whatever is necessary to complete the task. I am open to any new ideas that people many suggest. Even if I dislike the idea I would give it a try.
