Equal marks (20 marks) and equal time (40 minutes) allocated for each section

Preparing for Paper 2
There are some general things you can do to prepare for each of the sections of Paper 2
You should:
Know your texts very well
Read and/or view each of them again between now and then
Write up summaries of ideas/values treated in the texts
Know how the composers have shaped meaning
Explore aspects of representation
Be aware of the influence of context on meaning
Understand questions of textual integrity and ways in which texts are valued.

Consider how your texts have been ‘read’ and ‘received’
Review past papers available from the BOS website: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au
Go back over the syllabus descriptions for modules and electives
Become familiar with the marking criteria for questions
Understand what the rubrics for each of the Modules require
Develop your ability to read the questions & deconstruct wording – see especially BOS Glossary of Key Words (See handouts)
Get used to planning a response in dot points
Be able to recall quotes & examples to apply to your responses
Practise writing full responses to a variety of questions in a variety of text types - within the time limit (40 minutes) is preferable
Practise responding using in dot points – constructing introductions, topic sentences, examples/quotes to be used in each paragraph etc.
