Sexually Transmitted diseases are increasing at a rapid rate in America due to the reckless, careless and dangerous behavior people are taking part in. Sexually Transmitted diseases are caused by viruses, bacteria and parasites which can be given from one person to another. A common virus within the United Stated of America is HPV, it is said that more than 6 million people are in infected with the HPV infection every year. About half to three-fourths of the people who have ever had sex will have HPV at some time in their life. HPV is most common in women and men who are in their late teens or early 20s (Ho GYF, Bierman R, Beardsley L, Chang CJ, Burk RD.Natural history of cervicovaginal papilloma virus infection in young women. N Engl J Med 1998;338:423-8.U.S). Sexually Transmitted diseases are also known as Sexually Transmitted Infections or by the name they used be known by Venereal Diseases. There is about 25 different sexually transmitted disease. Which all can be spread by sexual contact, including vagina, anal and oral sex?
One of the biggest STD’s that seems to be affecting men and woman in America is HPV which is also known as Human Papilloma Virus is it a virus that infects a persons skin. There is about 30 different know strains of HPV some of the strains can cause different symptoms such as genital warts in some men and woman and for woman they can cause cervical cancer(Newsweek, 4/24/2006).. Depending on the strain of HPV a person is infected with, he or she may or may not experience any of the HPV symptoms, which in some cases the one symptom that will be showing it warts, can appear on certain parts of the body such as the hands, feet or private parts of the body.
