Turn and run or do you get down and hide? Most people would pick the first option, but that is one of the most dangerous things you can do in an earthquake. The best way to get through a natural disaster like this is to take cover, have an emergency household survival kit, and stay in contact. First of all, before an earthquake or any other type of natural disaster even happens it’s best to have practice drills with your family or roommates so when this situation does come upon you unexpectedly, you know what to do and where to go. Speaking of where to go, it’s best to hide in a couple different places. Obviously, you would choose the location closest to you and out of these options it all depends on where you are when it happens, but a desk, a table, a bench, or even a closet is perfectly fine, and it is best to stay there until you feel safe and the shaking has stopped, because your safety is your top priority. One thing you need to remember the most out of everything is stay away from windows, mirrors, they could shatter and break and possibly hurt you. Also, any tall furniture and large appliances because they could fall and hurt you or someone around you very badly or even kill you. Another thing that is vital to have during an emergency situation is a household emergency supply kit, and be sure that all family members or roommates, depending on your living situation knows where it’s stored in the house or apartment. The kit should include one or two portable containers (like plastic tubs, backpacks, duffel bags, etc.), that holds all the supplies that you and your family or roommates would need to survive without outside assistance (fire department, etc.) following an earthquake or any other type of disaster for at least a couple weeks, and keep a few weeks’ worth of
