Adolf Hitler was born on April 20,. 1889. He was born to Alois and Klara Hitler. While growing up Adolf got good grades in school with little effort. He also had a good talent for drawing. He was able to look at a building, memorize the details, and draw it from memory. When it was time to enter High school he had to decide whether he wanted to attend classical or technical school. His choice would have been classical school so he could become an artist. However, his dad wanted to follow in his footsteps and become a civil servant. His father didn’t give him a choice and sent him to technical school. At age 13, Hitler’s died from a lung hemorrhage. That made Hitler the head of the household. At the age of 16 Adolf decided to leave school and never to return. With no one to tell him what to do. He decided to wonder around Lunz, Austria, visiting museums, attending operas, and dreaming of becoming a great artist. At the age of 18 Hitler withdrew his inheritance money and went to live and study in Vienna. While there he took the two day entrance exam for the academy’s school of painting. Unfortunately, he was denied because his drawings showed lack of of talent for artistic painting. Hitler was so angry that he left Vienna to go back home. When he got home he found out that his mother was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. In 1908 Hitler attempted to gain admission to the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. However, like the first time he was denied again. Hitler’s money slowly deteriorated and he made no attempt to find a job. He just let his money run out and eventually became homeless.
At the age of 25 Hitler volunteered for the German Army, enlisting in a Bavarian regiment. He fought in WW1 for the German Fatherland. He enjoyed it and now felt a sense of belonging.
