There are many fascinating religions being actively practiced throughout the world today. The religious practices of Sanatana Dharma (commonly known as Hinduism) are practices originally adopted in India that are estimated to have been present for more than seven thousand years. There are many variations and traditions within Hinduism and it lacks a uniting belief system like many other religions. Some of the beliefs and practices have influenced traditions throughout the entire world. Cultural and societal influences have changed the religious practices over time and made them what they are today but Hinduism is one of the few religions that can be considered an ageless practice.
Hinduism is thought to have been present in the world for more than seven thousand years. It is not an organized religion, but many different religious ways that have been grouped together in one category. Because of this grouping, Hinduism is considered to be lacking a uniting belief system. Worship of deities throughout India can vary from village to village and there are more than three hundred million different deities. But there are philosophical and metaphysical elements that are common in most of the beliefs.
Overall, Hindus put their faith in one main deity that is responsible for creating, preserving, and destroying. A common belief that stems from the Vedas thousands of years ago is that there is a reality that exists beyond human understanding that creates and sustains all time, life, and space. It is believed that mystical insights can be learned through meditation. Reincarnation is also a core belief that is centralized to all areas of Hinduism. For them, reincarnation is the answer to the question of what happens after death. The concept of karma goes hand in hand with this belief because it is believed that the deeds done in this life will affect the next. The concept of karma is just one of the beliefs that have been adopted throughout the world.
