New High School Curriculum

High school, everyone has to do it and the students are at the mercy of the curriculum. However the curriculum has changed recently. The State of Michigan has set new guidelines for high school students graduating in 2011. One change required would be an increase in the amount of credits needed to graduate. The credits have increased by four credits. Students will be required to take more classes. Currently students are required to take two credits of Math, Science, History, and English, now students have to take four credits of Math and English, and three credits of Science and History. The controversy is that many people do not believe this change in the curriculum is a good idea. Others believe this change will be beneficial to the students. The change in the curriculum for the State of Michigan is a bad idea.
On the other hand, some people may argue that the change in our curriculum is not a bad thing, but a good thing. They believe the increase in credits will look better for colleges. They also believe the increased credits will make them become better students. Actually the new high school curriculum is a bad idea. First, it’s bad because they changed the amount of credits we need to graduate. The increase of credits will have a worst effect on the students. Students will become more stressed out because of so much more work they will have to do in order to graduate. They also have even more stress because if one does fail a class it will be harder to recover from that class because students have so much asked of them by this new curriculum. All this increased stress can lead to students getting sick because they will be more worried about what test they have that day instead of dressing warm for the weather or eating properly. The change in

credits is also unfair because the classes just before them get to graduate with a much easier curriculum. It is easy to see why this new curriculum is a bad idea....
