Writing Sample Group Activity
STEP 1
Go to page 18 in HIBW, and follow the directions under “Application” #1. This will constitute your writing sample. Then attach your sample as a Word file and send it to your group members only. The following procedure will show you how to do that.
[note: You will be assigned to a group as soon as all students enroll in this course. So be patient. I hope to have everyone in a group by Wednesday of the first week of classes. I will email you when I have assigned you to a group.]
Procedure: Click
1 GROUPS
2 your group: A, B, C, etc.
3 Group Discussion Board
4 Writing Sample Group Activity
5 Add new thread
6 In SUBJECT box, type Writing Sample
7 In MESSAGE box, type Here is my writing sample.
8 Attach your writing sample as a Word file by the end of the day, Thursday, August 31st.
9 Read the samples from all your group members and reply to each briefly (for the rest of our course, briefly will mean between 75-150 words) by clicking the REPLY button at the bottom of the screen by the end of the day Sunday, September 3rd.
STEP 2
Write a business email that introduces you to the entire class. Be sure to answer the following questions as part of your text.
1 What do you do?
2 Where are you from?
3 Where did you receive your undergraduate degree and what was your major?
4 What activities do you enjoy?
5 What program are you in and why are you in this program?
6 What experience do you have in the business world?
7 What experience do you have with business writing?
8 What general observations do you have about business writing?
9 What are some of the questions you have about business writing?
Then email your introduction to the entire class. The following procedure will show you how to do that.
