Imagine, yourself being really sick, getting a denial letter from your insurance company, and you have no money to get yourself treated. You will have no choice, other than to go bankrupt or to eventually die.
Over fifty million Americans cannot afford to have health insurance. This number is not shrinking, but readily growing. Health care is an essential right and should be guaranteed to every American. In 1993, Hilary Clinton proposed a plan to have Universal Health Care, which was refused. Regrettably, Health care system is not only affecting uninsured or unfortunate; it is also affecting middle class. American government is receiving pressure from these millions of people, but they are not sure how can they insure more than fifty million people? The answer is Universal Health Care.
Since Health insurance premiums increases, many businesses chose not to give health insurance, or they give them at a higher cost to their employees. Employees having to pay at a higher cost are choosing to go without a health insurance. Some of them chose to keep their health insurance, but then they have less money to pump back into our economy, as they cannot pay much for the rent, food, and consumer goods. So, the private care prevents the country to make economic recovery, where as universal health care helps the recovery. In Sicko, the documentary movie on Michael Moore, one man and wife lost their homes, as they had to pay for the diagnosis of cancer, because the insurance company denied their coverage. Private care system creates a massive amount of work, as claim must be submitted, an approval department has to go over the claim, checks have to be mailed, patients are sent co-pay bills, so the doctors office usually have their own recording system. If you have a sick child, and you want him/her to be diagnosed, do you really want to do all these paperwork or you want him/her to be looked after as soon as possible?
