The novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by J.K. Rowling, is an amazing and magical tale in which a very likable hero, Harry Potter takes us on an adventure into the wizarding world of Hogwarts School. This wonderful school saves young Mr. Potter from living full time with his dreadful Aunt and Uncle Dursley, and his awful cousin, Dudley. This is a story in which the theme illustrates the triumph of good over evil, involving both likeable and hateful characters.
This is a present time story that takes us into a magical dimension full of happy and unhappy surprises. The characterizations in this novel are well developed. In addition to Harry and the Dursleys we meet Harry’s best friends Heromine Granger and Ron Weasley. The staff at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is made up of loveable characters such as Rubious Hagrid, Albus Dumbledore, and Minurva McGonagall. A dark and brooding character is Professor Snape, who is very jealous of Harry and his fame.
The entire reason that Harry is so famous is that the wicked Voldermort first blew-up Harry’s parents and then he

decided to kill Harry as well. His attempt failed. Harry had somehow rendered Voldermort’s powers useless, for the most part. Unintentionally, Harry was given some of Voldermort’s powers. The only physical reminder that Voldermort left Harry was an unusual cut on his forehead. Hagrid explains to Harry, “No one ever lived after he decided ter kill ‘em, no one except you, an’ he’d killed some o’ the best witches an’ wizards of the age…” (55).
In this story Harry and his friends are searching for the Sorcerer’s stone. The reason they are searching for it is because they know that Voldermort wishes to obtain it and create the Elixir of Life. Harry is trying to prevent this because he knows that with the Elixir of Life, Voldermort will come back and try to kill the boy who destroyed all of his evil powers....
