I.INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Family a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group. Family populated the community, the cities, the country and the earth. As I observed we have different kinds of family ties or bond in our country. There are broken family, closed family, multiple family. Most of us have closed family rather than broken and multiple family. Because most Filipino are family oriented than other nationality. But some family experience the broken family or the separation of both parents in the family, it may be affect of the differences between the parents and difficulties of life to them or because of the poverty in the country. And the other one is multiple families or the Polygamy wherein there was multiple parents or wives.
Statement of the problem I’ve choose the topic about family ties because I’m from good closed and happy family until my mother died because of sickness. As time goes by my father fall in love with someone else that have been from broken family, my stepmother was separated to his husband even though they bear children, so I’ve been felt curious for what are the effect of that situation to their children if that situation may affect the behavior of their child, and affect on it to their studies.
Objectives
General: To determine whether family ties affect the academic performance of their children.
Specific:
• To determine whether family closed family affect the academic performance of their children.
• To determine whether family broken family affect the academic performance of their children.
• To determine whether family multiple family affect the academic performance of their children.
Scope and limitation This study focuses only to the kind of family ties that affect the academic performance of their children. It doesn’t cover the cause and other factors that affect the academic performance of the children and the cause and problems of a family.
