Hamlet
William Shakespeare was a poet and playwright. He is known for his great comedies and tragedies. Shakespeare mainly wrote tragedies until 1608. Hamlet is one of Shakespeare longest tragedy, and also his most known work. Hamlet tells the story of a prince that is disturbed by the death of his father the king and the quick marriage of his mother to his uncle. Hamlet is given a decree to seek revenge that brings him to his tragic end.
The death of the king of Denmark brought devastation to the kingdom, and has greatly grieved Hamlet. His father's death had to have been a traumatic experience for him because two months had past since his father's death and Hamlet was still in morning. This is pointed out in the line " But two months dread, nay, not so much, not two;" The death of a child's father has to be painful, but to add insult to injury Hamlet finds out from the ghost of his father that his death was brought on by and act of treason carried out by his uncle. He was not sure of the stories validity so he comes up with a plan to find out the truth. To do this Hamlet convinces the group of actors to re-enact a play that resemble the murder to see what his uncle's reaction would be. The plan confirmed the guilt of his uncle, but when an opportunity came to take revenge Hamlet did not siege the moment. I feel this is what cost him his own live because Claudius began to develop a plot to have him killed.
Hamlet's mother gets remarried, and Hamlet feels she has betrayed his father by marrying Claudius. Hamlet's anger is shown towards his mother getting remarried in the line, " You are the queen, your husband's brother's wife, and would it were not so! You are my mother!" I think Hamlet loves his mother very much and wants the best for her, but he cannot bear her remarriage to his uncle. It seemed as if the mother had abandoned him too. She could not bring herself to respond to Hamlet's outrage and grief. How could she have married...
