CHAPTER I

Background and Setting
Pollution is a harmful change in the natural environment caused by the human activities.
The contamination of air, water, and soil by substances that is harmful to living organism. Pollution can occur naturally, for example: through volcanic eruption or as the result of human activities, such as spilling of oil or disposal of industrial waste like from the cities and towns at might that interferes.
Pollution exists in many forms and many affects may different aspects of the earth’s environment. Point source pollution comes than specific location and identified sources such as sewage pipe lines and industrial smoke tanks. The point source pollution comes from dispersed or contained sources. According to Fuller (2003) pollution is nothing but the resources we are not harvesting. We allow them to disperse because we’ve been ignorant of their value.
It can also mean that pollution contamination of earth’s environment with materials that interferes with human health, the quality of life of the natural functioning. (http://www.pollution.com)
Slaughter (2001) defines “Pollution that’s harming the environment. It is the impurities in our air and water that are doing it.
The term pollution is usually harmful to one or more species of animal or plants or it may be releases of energy it interferes with the development of plants and pollution. (Mendoza 1998)
Hardin (2004) describes “Pollution may occur naturally, as well as an erupted volcano releases sulfur dioxide, but the term usually refers the negative effect of human activities.
