Group Development

Group Development is something that occurs naturally and refines itself overtime. The four stages of group development are forming, storming, norming and performing. Every group begins with forming and works through the stages until they reach performing. In the paragraphs following I will discuss how each of these stages are used.
        The character I chose to analyze is George Clooney  as Daniel. Daniel is the member of the group that formulates the plan to rob the casino. He seems to have two different reasons for this.  The first reason is for the money. The second reason is to win his ex wife back, who is now dating Terry; the owner of the casino.  He then made the decision to form a group to assist him in the robbery.  When this group was established, the forming group stage was completed. 
 
        The next stage is storming. In this stage Daniel clashes with Rusty when Rusty finds out that Daniels ex-wife is involved with Terry. Meanwhile, each group member is trying to determine what skills they individually provide to the group.  Also, the group members are pndering  howthis robbery will benefit them  besides the money aspect. Each person involved wants to tackle a certain area  and be able to say they have done what no one else could do.
 
The third stage is norming. This is shown in the movie when Rusty decides that Daniel is out when he was red flagged.  When this happens  Matt Damon’s character  takes over the role that was previously Daniel's.  However, in the end  this was a  setup so the  group would not get caught. Terry was too busy dealing with Daniel to concentrate on what was really happening around him.
The last stage is Performing. This is when the group actually performed the robbery and got away with it. Daniel came back at this time and helped break into the vault. He then retuned to the holding area where Terry had  placed him to cause a distraction.   Meanwhile, the rest of the group  got away with the...
