“Unemployment reaches all time high!!”
In the 1930’s, during the Great Depression the unemployment level and poverty level skyrocketed and the economy growth hit rock bottom. The big issue was with the stock market falling out because businesses not doing well. The three reasons to support my opinion are unemployment going up, economic downfall, and the Hoover Dam.
The events during the Great Depression had severe consequences on the United States.
The unemployment level was increasing throughout the depression. In the Great Depression era the whole world was having a terrible time trying to get a job or even getting a business started on what money they had. In a book I read a quote “Unemployment reaches all time high!!” it made me think that this is what is starting now.
The economic downfall was the main part of the depression. The economy fell do to the stock market falling through. At this time people were trying to make money by selling any items they could get there hands on. On October 29, 1929, there were 16.4 billion shares dumped and investors lost about $30 billion that day.
During the depression President Hoover went about building the Hoover Dam. The Hoover Dam gave jobs to unemployed citizens and helped the economy. The Hoover Dam provided electricity, flood control, employment, and water supply. The Hoover Dam was a very smart idea for the economy.
The Great Depression was the worst time in all-economical issues in our nation. This issue was very important because we now know how to prevent ourselves from getting into another depression. After about 80 years since the last Great Depression here we stand turning to face one of the most terrifying issues of our generation.
