Grandparents
It's been eight years grandma and grandpa
I really really miss you
Daddy says your safe now
In a beautiful place called heaven
Oh I'm thinking about my younger years
We had your favorite dinner tonight
There was only you two and me
I ate it all up
We were young and wild and free
Even though I don't like carrots
Nothing can take you two away from me
Its summer time now,
We've been down this road before
Even though it scares me,
Ive learned to open my eyes
But that's over now
You’ve taught me to not be afraid to go back to this place
Can't you see me?
Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
Love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
I have a picture of us
In my drawer next to my bed
Oh once in your life you find someone
You are the greatest grandparents of all
Who will turn your world around
Pick you up when you're feeling down
Now nothing can change what you mean to me
I can golf all by myself now grandpa
There's a lot that I could say
But just hold me now
Even though I miss you helping me
Cause our love will light the way
Can't you see me?
Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
I miss how I use to sit on your laps
And love is all that I need
And you would sit there and tell me how much you loved me
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
Im in 11th grade now,
Even beginning to look at colleges
I know where ever I go you’ll be proud
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
Jessica got married a few months ago
I know you were there,
I saw you
You were the ring on her bouquet
Will you be there on my day?
Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
I try not to cry
I've been

Ever since I can remember I spent almost ever y day at my Grandparents house. They live right down the road from my family and me, and that is how they got the title “Grandma and Grandpa down the road”. They lived in a small house three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a small living room with a fire place that can worm the coldest heart. And in their back yard stood a shed filled with old farm equipment and stray cats with their kittens that I would try to catch every day. They are now both 78 years old and sadly not very healthy. My grandpa was diagnosed with lung cancer in October, and it changed my grandpa’s life, my family’s life, and my life.…

Even to this day, I don't know how my grandma had so much love for someone who she could barely remember. Yet, since my grandma's condition was bad I naturally helped out my family with my great grandma. I would bring in and out sodas for her since she had a mad addiction to the fizzy drink, and sometimes I would bring her hot meals. Even though doing all of that was great, my favorite thing to do for her was to keep her company. On the most beautiful of days, we would go out and sit on the neon yellow swing set in front of our house in early afternoons when the leaves were turning a beautiful shade of brown and the weather was just the right temperature. The wind sang alluring songs in your ears as the branches of the lush trees danced to the melody. I can picture it just like it was yesterday. The pond next to us glimmered a light blue color as the swing squeaked in glee. She would sing the same tune each time and i would drift into a world of peace and tranquility where nothing else mattered at that moment. But as a little girl, I took those special moments for granted. I was too oblivious to know that good things don't last forever, they never…

In numerous instances relating to francophone literature, the displaced African woman is often depicted as a strong, independent, and resourceful individual. Contrary to western depictions of the role females were to play during that time period, many African women endured such things as hard labor and an increased sense of responsibility about the household. Though the man is still one to play the dominant role in the majority of situations, women were not known to be overly submissive, but instead raised themselves to a level nearly equivalent to that of their male counterparts.…
