Global Warming is Bad for Your Health
Global Warming is being associated with many events that are not only negatively affecting wildlife in the arctic but also mankind worldwide. The plight for survival of polar bears and penguins in the artic is always attributed to global warming and receives a great deal of attention from special interest groups and the news media. However, the fact is humans are also feeling the effects. The warming of our plant is a cause for alarm and measures must be taken to reverse the effects of air pollution before it is too late. Unfortunately, there is currently “zero bills passed by Congress to cut global warming pollution” (Global Warming By Numbers, 2007).
Climate change will have an obvious impact on temperatures across the globe (Health Impacts of Global Warming, 2007). According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the years 1998 and 2005 were the hottest years on record (Global Warming By Numbers, 2007). This shows a trend, which indicates the planet, is indeed getting warmer each year. In fact, “the recent 100 years are a highest temperature period in the past 1,000 years” (Global Warming Aggravates Natural Disasters, 2005). Eleven of the twelve hottest years on record occurred between 1995 and 2006, which further illustrates the impact of global warming on the environment (What is Global Warming, 2007). According to U.S. Geological Survey predictions, glaciers at Glacier National Park will all disappear by the year 2030 (Global Warming by Number, 2007).
The temperature has a powerful impact on the health and welfare of mankind. Aside from the discomfort and distress a heat wave brings, a heat wave can also turn deadly. Though increasing temperatures will decrease cold related deaths, the number of heat related deaths would certainly rise.
