Global Warming Evaluating An Inconvienient Truth

We are heavily polluting our only home “planet earth” causing global warming. When nature fights back there will not be a road to escape; when that time comes everyone will wish that we should have acted while the door of opportunity was open. In An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore presents evidence that proves global warming is caused by humans and growing more dangerous. Although Gore utilizes various argumentative strategies to prove the existence of global warming, some are more effective than others. I will analyze Gore’s credibility, and appeal to ethics and human emotions before analyzing his scientific evidence.
Gore’s credibility is a strong strategy for convincing people about the planetary emergency. Here are some reasons why: he has been a student of the climate crisis for over 30 years (10), wrote his first global warming book in 1992 titled Earth in the balance (8), and made many accomplishments on environmental issues during his time as vice president (9). He does not just read about field studies or talk to scientists, but he actually takes trips to witness the imprints left by global warming. Some places he has been to are the: Everglades Swamp, Aral and Dead Sea, Alaska, New Zealand, Amazon Jungle, North and South Pole, and many other places. Gore has also been present when scientists are at work doing research.
Although Al Gore’s appeal to ethics is a strong strategy in his global warming argument, it is the weakest among the strategies which I will asses. Gore believes it is immoral for us to not to do anything about global warming, since we are the causing it. He claims that if the earth becomes irreversibly scarred by us, then future children will ask us “What were you thinking? Didn’t you care about our future” (An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore, 11).
