A Glance of two Juvenile Centers

The first juvenile center I will be talking about is the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center. This is a maximum security facility that can houses up to 132 juveniles at one time. This holds juveniles that are said to be delinquent. Some of the programs that Franklin incorporates while juveniles are at the center consist of: education, tutoring services, recreation activities, counseling, and religious services.
Columbus Public Schools provide education for the juvenile center. They have seven full time teachers, which teach all of the subjects ranging from English thru Math. They also include a summer program to continue the educational services year round.
Recreational programs offer the daily requirements that help keep the juveniles healthy. These activates range from educating the juveniles about health and fitness to actually physically working the muscles. This time gives the juveniles the regular exercise time.
In addition to the juveniles that stay at the center, there were 377 electronically monitored at home during the 2003 year. This cut the cost down by not having to keep the minimal risk juveniles locked up. They are monitored 24 hours a day using an ankle monitor and a regular phone line. This report to a computer if they go out of the designated range area. The staff supervises the program are then notified of the violations as they occur. This has a high completion rate of 77 percent during the 2003 year for this program.
As for the visitation hours for the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center are divided into 2 groups depending on the first letter of the last name. Wednesday and Saturday are they same with the last name beginning with A-M at 6:30-7:15P.M. Then N-Z at 7:30-815 P.M.
