Introduction
There is no new concept when it comes to human interest in nature. As far back as history has been recorded, there has always been this interest. The natural inquisitiveness of people has led them to the discovery of many geological wonders. These wonders that mankind played no part in creating, were created solely by time and nature. These natural wonders are of the earth, and from the earth. Created due in part to geological actions both above and below the surface of the earth, using materials, minerals, and the forces of nature. Prior to the onset of our adventure, please understand, when referring to geology, we mean all things that are created by the earth no matter the shape or form. Hopefully, at the end of our tour, everyone will go home with a better understanding of geology and why the study of geology is so important. These locations provide a heartwarming contrast between living with the land and living on the land. Our tour itinerary consists of three stops at geological wonders in the United States. First we shall travel to the astonishing Cascade Mountains in Washington State home of the active volcano Mount Saint Helens. Then off to the tropical Hawaiian Islands to walk along the black sand beaches of Punalu’u. We will be finishing the tour with a nourishing soak in the historic hot springs of Hot Springs, North Carolina.
