For students that attending college for the first time using a student survival guide is very helpful. This survival guide should be kept along with your study folders and used when you get in a jam or are unsure where to locate the tools you need.
Using Axia’s Educational Resources
One of the features that I like the most is the Axia Online Library. It is like a traditional library but the best part is you do not have to leave the house to use it. After logging in at the main college page move your mouse pointer over the library link at the top of the page, click on it and the library home page will load. This is the main page to a wealth of knowledge. From this page, you can search the library, submit a paper for grammar and plagiarism review, and join a student lab or numerous other things. For example, you can click on the Center for Writing Excellence tab and submit or retrieve the papers that you have submitted for the grammar and plagiarism checker, or you can click on the Center for Mathematics Excellence and get help overcoming your fears and anxiety of math. Lastly, you can click on the University Library tab and it will take you to the main library page. Here you will find resources for searching information and services that are available to you. One of the best things is you can still get help from a librarian by clicking on the Ask a Librarian link. It will provide a service to receive specific information that may be problematic in researching. There is even a tutorial on using the online library, which is helpful for first time users.
When looking for information on a specific topic; first, choose an appropriate database to search. Type in the search words or limit the search by using “and,” “not,” and “or.” It is also possible to limit the search to peer-reviewed articles or documents with images. Clicking on search will bring up the articles matching the search criteria.
