The Functions of Management
There are certain functions one must use in order to succeed as a manager. As a manager he or she must understand what the term management means. Management is a process of working with the consumer and the employees to accomplish organization along with goals within the company. To be the manager does not mean that one is the “boss” or “person in charge.”
As a manager one must get past the arrogance that the position can bring, have skills, and follow the functions of management. The four functions of management are: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
When a manager uses planning he or she has in mind that there are goals that need to be planned along with a strategy on how to achieve those goals. These goals are not just short-term goals but the goals need to also focus on the future of the business.
Organizing is essential for any manager because with out organization within the company there can be many down falls. One way a manager can organize is to designate job responsibilities and duties amongst the employees. A good way to help get organized is to establish teams within the company so everyone gets a since of belonging and can help to accomplish the same goals. Another part of organization is to gather information and/or data and use the information to help achieve goals by making the business more attractive to the consumer.
A manager would be nothing if he or she did not lead the way for the employees. Without leading a company and the employees would be lost or confused. The moment a manager leads he or she will communicate with the employees to help motivate and direct them. Leading entangles close contact with the employees and the consumer. Once a manager leads and communicates he or she can achieve the goals established.
