Who is the Biography about? (1 complete paragraph minimum)
The Biography was about Frederick Douglass. Frederick was a very important key to the way America is now. Frederick started his life out as a slave. He survived off of advice of other people. He became an abolitionist, women's suffragist, editor, orator, author, statesman and reformer. He became so successful after escaping slavery that people looked up to him. He was a firm believer that all people were equal. Here is his story.
Why is Frederick Douglass famous? (2 paragraphs describing the sequence leading up to fame and reasons for fame)
Frederick Douglass was famous because he became one of the world’s greatest anti-slavery Leaders, but it didn’t happen over night. Frederick was a slave until he was about 17. When he was 12 his mistress mistakenly started teaching him the alphabet and how to read small words . After his master found out he forced her to stop teaching him. Frederick tricked the poor white kids in the neighborhood into continuing his education. Frederick attempted to escape twice. Once from his Master Freeman and then from his Master Covey. He finally escaped on September 3, 1838. He had gotten papers from a free Seaman and boarded a train as a sailor. After his 24 hour Journey using two trains and two boats he finally made it to New York.
Frederick Douglass was most famous for his Autobiographies, Including Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, My Bondage and my Freedom, and Life and times of Frederick Douglass.
