Green River and Aberdeen are two companies with very different organizational commitments. The employees at Aberdeen are happy to be members of the organization; they believe in the organization and intend to do what is good for the organization making their organizational commitment an affective commitment. The employees of Green River in the other hand are committed to their organization not so much, because they want to but because they have to making their organizational commitment a continuance commitment.

THE MANAGEMENT OF ABILITY:
The management of ability at Green River and the management of ability at Aberdeen are very different. At Green River, individual skills and abilities are encouraged. Every person is focused only on his/her task. They concentrate only on their areas of expertise and become a specialist in the production process. At Aberdeen, the opposite is encouraged. They instead are encouraged to work in work teams. The work teams do whatever it takes to make their process a success. Their skills and work are not limited to their functional areas and they are willing to do whatever the task demands.

I think Aberdeen's approach is more effective because it encourages their employees to develop skills in areas other than those in which they have expertise.

ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT:
Both Green River and Aberdeen have different organizational commitments. Green River's organizational commitment is based on their affiliation to the company and Aberdeen's organizational commitment is based on the affiliation of workers to the company. Their work cultures are also very different. Green River's work culture is to do as they are told. The employees just do their jobs and carry out orders they receive from their superiors. On the other hand, Aberdeen's employees are motivated and encourage improving their working environment. Their work culture is for the good of the company...
