The Five Pillars Of Islam

First, the word Islam means "submission", or the total surrender of oneself. This helps to explain why the central beliefs of Islam are complete faith in the power of God. These beliefs of Islam are reflected in the "Five Pillars"

1. The first pillar of Islam is the Belief in Allah (God)
Islam upholds the strict belief in professing the unity of God and the messengership of Muhammad. This is the heart of their faith. In Islam god is the sole Creator, and Savior of the universe. He has no equal in His qualities and abilities, such as knowledge and power. All worship is to be directed to God and none else. The Qur’an requires the faithful to tell others of Islam; so that they will have the information, they need to make an intelligent choice.

2. The second pillar of Islam is the Belief in prayer the second pillar is the performance of a continual round of prayers. Five times a day. They believe the faithful are to face Mecca, and recite a series of prayers and passages from the Qur’an, bowing and kneeling.

3. The third pillar of Islam is the Belief of spiritual tithing and almsgiving.
At the end of the year, all Muslims must donate at least two and a half percent of their accumulated wealth to needy Muslims. This provision is designed to prevent personal greed. Its literal meaning is “purity,” for it purifies

4. The fourth pillar of Islam Sawm, which is the Belief in fasting
