Final Project Overview and Timeline

Final Project Overview

Your research project discusses the details of one of the following career choices:

o Web developer or administrator
o Project manager
o Database administrators
o Computer programmers
o Network and computer systems administrators
o Computer engineers (software or hardware)

Keep in mind that your audience is high school seniors. The research is designed to provide insight into this career field for this population.

A number of elements are required for the paper. Please see Week Nine of the syllabus for a list of those elements.

Your final research project will be 1,750 to 2,100 words.

Final Project Timeline

Budget your time wisely and work on your project throughout the course. Use the timeline below to designate an appropriate amount of time for your research and writing.

□ Complete in Week One: Read the Final Project Overview and Timeline in Appendix A. Choose the career you want to research.

□ Suggested in Week Two: Write a short proposal for your final project. The proposal should include the following:

• What you are proposing to write about
• Your background and how it has led you to pursue this type of career
• The specific elements of the career you will focus on in your final project (This may include salary, job requirements, physical labor, and other characteristics of the job.)
• The benefits of having this job
• Anything you hope to learn more about through your research

□ Complete in Week Three: Create your Visio diagram. Begin to pre-draft your final project (brainstorm).

□ Complete in Week Four: Find a magazine or newspaper article for this week’s CheckPoint. Also, write and submit your survey. Summarize or chart your survey results.
