Over the past nine weeks of being in GEN 105 I have learned so much. When I first in this class I was nervous, but that goes along with being out of school for many years. By the third week I was more comfortable with the distant learning program.
I feel very confident in my future classes with Axia. All the things that I have studied will be of use.
While in this class I had a chance to use the Axia’s Educational Resources. In reviewing all the resources I really found the grammar and writing guide to be very interesting. It covered writing style, grammar mechanics, and plagiarism. The writing style deals active and passive voice this is the way you speak to someone. It also covered using concise language, mood, point of view and so many more to choose from. The grammar mechanics offered the use of commas, semicolons, colons, commonly confused words, adjectives vs. adverbs, and that is just a few. I really liked that it had mastery test that you can do after you have finished your studies.
I know that I will be using these resources in my class due to the need to brush up on my English and grammar.
In another area I found that Axia College takes Academic honesty very serious after reading the University of Phoenix catalog. In doing this reading I found the definition for plagiarism- representing the words or ideas of another as one’s own in academic exercise and that it is unlawfully use or acquisition of copyrighted works. If you help another student to cheat, fabricate, plagiarize or unlawfully acquire or use copyrighted work, is all concerned academic dishonesty. Academic dishonesty has a very large price to pay; you could be kicked out of college.
In my future classes that I will be required to do research and write papers, this information would be useful. I plan on doing my research and putting the information into my own words the best that I can. I know that it is okay for me to use the exact words of the author...
