Which has had more impact on British Society films or radio?

Throughout history, there have been many inventions, that have had a major impact on British society. Two of these are the creation of film and radio in 1895. Both of which made a considerable difference to Britain and it’s society.

In 1895 a man named Giglelmo Marconi’ discovered the radio. The radio changed the way of life and later on developed a better means of communication. The development of radio meant that wireless signals could transmit Morse code allowing sea captains to contact each other for example in case of an emergency, however this was further developed in 1914 when speech was transmitted for the first time , this opened up many doors and widened the communication world allowing messages and important information to be more easily and efficiently accessed through the use of radio. Radio made a huge impact on the Great War, as ‘further advances’ meant the commanders could talk to his troops through the use of radio, therefore this new technology had a major impact allowing the commander to report important information to his troops for example if they were in danger, giving them the upper hand over the enemies.
By 1920s the ‘British Broadcasting company’ (BBC) was formed on October 1922 and daily broadcasting began on November 14th. In order to listen to the radio there were a number of different types of radio, but by the 1930s the most popular radio that many folks had in there household were mains power sets housed in polished wood or moulded Bakelite cabinet’s. This enabled many to listen to the radio from the comfort of there own home. The BBC had a variety of shows, concerts and talks and this had a positive impact on many children and adults. A typical days radio schedule may of included a concert, news and a childrens time entertainment section. The radio benefited women as is allowed many women to listen to the company of the radio, whilst doing domestic duties...
