Filipino Youth
THE FILIPINO YOUTH According to Dr. Jose P. Rizal, “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan”. But for the youth of today, who is Dr. Jose P. Rizal? Is he a role model for the Filipino youth? Is he still being remembered the way a national hero should be? Is he an inspiration to the younger generations? What is his legacy? What is his relevance today? Dr. J. P. Rizal, describing the youth as the Philippines’ hope of tomorrow. But now some of the Filipino youth doesn’t even care about what our national hero has stated. For some of the youth being a student, a child, and a member of this society, they don’t even care about what is going to happen to them in the future some doesn’t even like to talk to their parents they would rather do their stuff rather than to listen. Was this because of our modern technology today and because of the thing they call love which is supposed to be puppy love or even because of the peers they used to be with? Perhaps, I do agree. The effect of modern technology among the Filipino youth today no longer seem spend their leisure activities like in the olden days; playing outdoor games or with toys, instead, they spend their time in internet cafes or in front of their computers or laptops just to satisfy their hunger of online gaming. It also has impact on not only the young, but dynamically every age group as well. As in any situation where new technology is introduced, the social impact of the Internet is being looked at. They rather play than to study though their parents ask them to quit online gaming. As them being a student, they rather cut or not to attend classes in order for them to play online gaming. Today, Filipino youth tend to engage in early sexual initiations like pre-marital sex. Because of our modern day culture the youth chose to engage on pre-marital sex before marriage. And, because of higher exposure to sex from the internet, magazines, TV shows,

    An Essay About Jose Rizal

    • 5 Pages

Who is Jose Rizal to common people? What is the impact of his life, woks and writings? When we ask most average persons today these questions, they might answer something like, he is our national hero, he died in Bagumbayan, and he wrote two great novels. Beyond that nothing more is explicitly said about Jose Rizal. As I read through the chapters of the book I have come discover many more things that is admirable about this man. In his childhood, he wrote a poem to his fellow children reminding them to always love their native tongue. The children of today tend to like the invaders tongue. Maybe they are ashamed of their true language assuming that they are more superior if they speak the more popular language. How do we teach the new breed to love our native tongue? As a student in his early age Rizal was enthusiastic in his studies, always on the top of the class. I am sure that there were distractions during his times but he never was tempted to be lazy in school. In this lifetime I can see many young students wasting their precious time playing computer games, doing things that have nothing to do to excel. In my elementary days, we were taught in a strict manner. Though strict but effective, we cannot see that now. Students of today have the privilege to do anything they want regardless of what the teacher think. The youth is the hope of the future, is this true still? Rizal also is a religious child. Though it is a given, because the main focus of education by his time is religion. But he was a devoted catholic. Is this kind of spirit still in the youth today? Have you been to church lately? Merely, we can see a young boy or girl really listening to the gospel or paying attention at all. What kind of transformation are we teaching the youth today? The youth should be guided properly and appropriately, we have to do everything we can to make them understand that they are the hope of the fatherland. Let us not mislead them by…

A growing number of young Filipinos are engaging in premarital sex (PMS), with most girls having their "sexual debut" in their boyfriends’ homes, a report of the United Nations Population Fund and the Commission on Population shows. The report, entitled "State of the Population Report, 2nd Issue," reveals that the "popular venue for sexual debut" of young Filipino females (32 percent) in urban areas are their partners’ homes, and for males (30 percent), hotels or motels. And for those in the rural areas, the popular venues are beaches, parks or farms. "Data suggest that boys are more adventurous than girls as the former identified the classroom as one of the venues for their first (sexual) experience. The workplace can also be the location of these experiences, slightly more so for girls than for boys," the report says. The report was based on the Young Adult Fertility Survey-3 where about 20,000 youths aged 15 to 24 were interviewed. The survey shows an increase in PMS prevalence from 18 percent in 1994 to 23 percent in 2002 or two out of 10 young Filipino adults. Ninety-four percent of those who had experienced PMS admitted that they were "unwilling and unprepared to become parents." "Sex becomes risky when done by those who are physiologically and psychologically ill-prepared for its consequences. And early sex among (the) youth is much riskier," the study says.…

To The Philippine Youth Today To The Philippine Youth written by Jose Rizal, I believe, was written wrote this for those innocent Filipinos who we’re given below average education due to the Spaniards controlling the quality of education. Rizal wanted to tell the Philippine Youth before to remove the inferiority that was instilled to them by the Spaniards and “Lift up your radiant brow”. The Philippine Youth in these times aren’t living up to their full potential, that is why Rizal is encouraging, if not imploring these youths to show what they are capable of. This poem is obviously saying in the common Filipino saying, “ang kabataan ang pagasa ng bayan.” Or The Youth is the Hope of our Motherland. It was said this way because the motherland really did need “hope”, hope from the country’s oppressors and hope from ignorance that is being provided by those tyrants. Through higher education, and clarity of what was truly happening in the country, the youth will be able to protect the country from tyranny. Rizal is showing his pride in being a Filipino with this poem. He explicitly declared his citizenship in this poem, by saying “Fair hope of my Motherland” and “Youth of my native strand”. The poem is written for the youths of his time to exhibit their hidden potential to inspire not only their fellow Filipinos but the world. Realizing the ones ability will not only help in…

Online games can have bad effects on people’s life specially the learners. Online game addiction has become popular in society which seriously influences children both physically and mentally. They even tell lies to their parents like going outside without permission, which becomes a bad habit that needs to be prevented. (James Brown)…
