In the novel fight club, Jack enlightens Marla about the meetings and that they are the most real thing in his life. In my opinion, Jack indicates that these meetings are the single most vital fixation in his life. He can not go about living his life without these meetings, because these meetings are the source for his nirvana.
What is the most real thing in my life? Me, myself and I. Therefore, in Jack’s point of view, the most important thing in my life is me. Only one thing matters in this existence and that’s the person you are. Nothing else matters. Everyone else around you will eventually vanish or blow away like the wind. The most real and important thing in my life is the person I am deep down inside. Not for anyone else, but for my own good. When your eyes shut for the last time, and you take your last breathe, friends or family does not mean a thing. You’re flying solo. You can not live your life for anyone else. Everything you do has to be for your own benefit. Not to make other people happy or be proud of you. For example, people go to college to get an education so they can become successful in the future. On the other hand, some people go to college just to make they’re parents or other people proud of them or happy. What you decide to do in your life has to come from your own mind and heart, not anyone else’s, and it has to be beneficial to you.
