Felicity
The sun subtly ascended. The piercing dawn light colored the whole world in vermillion.
Philip opened his eyes. Something was different.
Every other morning in his entire life, the first thing he saw was either the plain blue ceiling in his bedroom or the old-fashioned clock hung right in the centre of the wall in his office, which worked to remind Philip how quickly time flew. He never actually needed this reminder – he knew this too well.
He used to have more mornings waking up seeing the blue ceiling. The number of times he saw the huge clock in his office gradually increased. As the number of times the clock appeared to be the first visible object in a morning increased, so did his bank accounts and the level his office was on.
This time, however was quite different. The first image that shined into his eyes was the picture of the pitiless sky, with an enormous tower-like building occupying part of the picture. He thought the building was immense – it actually was the tallest building in New York City. What he never realized was that the sky was big too, and was much bigger than he thought it was.
Of course he recognized the building. It was the headquarters of “Microsoft”, the most successful firm in the world, and Philip’s office was on the top floor of this building, the one you can find a golden plate on the door with the words “Philip Gates CEO Room” written in Gothic style on it.
Philip stood up; he found it a rather bad idea to sleep on the cold concrete ground for a long time. He could not recall how and why he was lying on the ground, but then he saw the body soaked in blood on the ground, with a slightly damaged car in front of it. He could not believe this. He knew this guy, and not only did he know him, he had known him for forty years. For another five minutes he stood there astonished, his emotions ran all over the place. He was clueless.
New York City was a forest. People on the street were as numerous as trees...
