Friday and the Chocolate Café
After a difficult week of bending down to kiss the million dollar bottoms of your bosses, after a long week of selling one’s self to the ever powerful corporate machines, after a week long submission to the institutional brainwashing of school, one can not help but look forward to the saving grace known as Friday.
For the 9-to-5 slaves of the system, Friday is God-sent. It is a respite from all that is tedious and draining in everyday life. Come Friday, the worker drone can afford to kick back, put his feet up, relax, and spend some of his hard earned money on an institution of his choice. For most working class automatons, these institutions are the bars; however, in truth, a high class cafe such as Max Brenner is more conducive to acquiring the reprieve these mechanical people yearn for. The aforesaid institution is more conducive for rest and relaxation because of the cuisine they offer, the furnishings they provide their customers, and their general ambiance.
Insofar as a cafe is primarily an establishment devoted to the trade of edible goods, it would be prudent to begin this exposition by considering the cuisine offered at Max Brenner. The cuisine offered is a wide array of pastries and hot drinks ranging from tempting chocolate fondues to very rich hot chocolate. Compared to the food offered by most bars, the variety found in this high class cafe is relatively light. More often than not, it comes in quantities which are just enough -- no more, no less -- to satisfy a person. By nature, most chocolate products say, the famous whipped granite drinks, offered are alcohol-free and, thus, not intoxicating -- unlike the drinks offered in bars which, if taken excessively, might render one helpless and vulnerable to the machinations of others. Similarly, the light pasta-and-pastry fare offered in this high-class cafe is infinitely more agreeable to the digestive system than, say, the oil-caked pulutan of most...
