INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this assignment is to fulfil the objectives the social sciences courses. The objectives of this assignment are :
Define the meaning of the family
State the roles of each family members
Explain the function of my family that influenced me to be who I am today
Family life is our first school for emotional and moral learning. In this stage, we learn how to understand ourselves and how others will react to our feelings. This emotional school operates not just the things that parents say and do directly to children, but also in the models they offer for handling their own feelings and those that pass between husband and wife. (goleman, 1999)
The word family has been derived from Latin word ‘famulus’ means servant. In Roman the word is denoted by a group of members connected by a general descent and marriage.
There are many definition create by philosopoher in term of family. According to (Maciver, nd, )“family is a group defined by sex relationship sufficiently precise and enduring to provide for the procreation and upbringing of children”. Besides, according to (Burgess and Locke, nd) “family is a group of persons united by ties of marriage blood or adoption constituting a single household interacting and intercommunicating with each other in their respective social roles of husband and wife, father and mother, son and daughter, brother and sister, creating a common culture”. Furthermore, (Elliot and Merril, nd) state that “family is the biological social unit composed of husband, wife and children”.
As everyone knows family is very important in our life because they are the person that are really close to us and plays a crucial roles in order to have a good social control. When we speak of the family we ordinarily think of husband and wife, their children, and occasionally an extra relative.
