Family

Jessica   English 111   February 12, 2009   Family   I had no idea what was going on in my life as a teenager. I stayed out all the time, was never home, and didn't have a care in the world. I was the girl that had no clue what she was going to be doing in 5 or even 10 years. No one could have seen where I was going but me and I didn't care to. I was in my own little world, and reality was about to set in hard.   About 5 months after I turned fifteen I met a guy named Miguel, he hardly knew any english at all. I was taking spanish in high school so I knew a little bit of spanish, but not enough to actually hold a conversation. We started trying to talk to each other but it was difficult, we were both constantly looking up words in a spanish-english dictionary just to be able to communicate. It was kind of tough having a conversation at first, but it eventually got easier. A few weeks after meeting Miguel, he and his brother were both stabbed, they were put in the hospital for a few weeks, and both had to have major surgery to repair the damage that was done. The first time I went to visit them in the hospital it was hard, here I was at the hospital, didn't really know them, and could hardly speak to them. But after seeing Miguel lying in the hospital bed, I knew there was something about him that just felt right.   If there’s one thing that I have learned, it is that family is what makes us who we are and we should be thankful for everything that they do for us. As for me, my husband and kids are my foundation; I do everything I can for them. Family is what can keep you from breaking down and losing it! They are always supportive and will drop everything they’re doing just to help you out. My family means the world to me, I couldn’t ask for a better support system. I never would have guessed 7 years ago that I would be married and have two boys, and that I would be back in school as well.
