“Faith”
Who really knows what happens to us after death? Do you know for sure that there really exists a “heaven”? Have you ever seen “heaven”? Have you ever visited “heaven” in a dream? And what of “Hell”? Can a place so dark and horrific really exist? Where the souls of the lost and damned venture to for all eternity? Or perhaps you believe in nothing. Just emptiness with only the physical world around you as your playground, until your fragile body becomes one with the earth. Do I just follow my blind faith into this black abyss? Or do I use my knowledge and try to make sense of this situation? There has to be a logical explanation for everything, right? Why do faith and knowledge constantly have to collide and compete with each other? Which one do I choose? Which one is the right way?
Faith is a path by which we “believe” will lead us in the right direction in order to pursue our “plan”. We do not know where we are going, nor does is matter. It only matters that we keep a straight focus and do not wander from the path. Well then tell me, why does my mind wander? Why do I contemplate in my mind on what I am doing? Shall I continue on this “path” and ignore my inner thoughts? I shouldn’t even have these thoughts at all! What am I to do? This “faith” in me continues to pull me left, but my mind pulls right. The “faith” is a strong force and is something that we want to follow. The problem lies when we try to assess and question forces beyond our control. It’s human nature to question the unknown, but how far do we keep walking until we are lost? My mother always told me “you just need to have faith and everything will be alright, it always works out in the end.” I would like to believe that, but so far I have not “seen” anything. In my heart I know following my “faith” would be the right thing to do.
