People generally and normally do not like to leave their native places, because they form a part of that culture; language, religion, environment, social customs and traditions of the place where they live. They do not like to part off all these things hence economic factors alone are not so strong motive for migration. So along with economics people consider a number of factors before leaving for a new destination.
 Distance; greater It is, lesser are chances of migration..
 Uncertainty about employment; transportation expenses if high and possibility of getting good accommodation, if low discourages migration.
 Attachment to old living places (psychological factors)
 Difference in language, culture social customs and traditions
 Double establishment expenses.
 State regulations; there are no state regulations for internal migration, but one has to take permission from the government of the country which one wishes to go to. Inability to receive such a permission fails the plan.

Gastarbeiter (guest workers) Advanced countries which are short of labor make use of migrant labor without having to give the immigrants full civic rights as citizens.
