When the Nelsons mail their letter on October 5th, there is no immediate legal effect on the Cleavers’ proposal. This is due to the Rejection Mail Box Rule which states that a rejection is effective when it is received by the offeror. When the Cleavers receive the letter, they will understand that the Nelsons have rejected their offer and have proposed a new offer. The type of rejection used by the Nelsons here is called a counteroffer. A counteroffer is a clear refusal of the original offer and a proposal of a new offer. By proposing a counteroffer, the Cleavers’ previous offer for $500,000 with a 10% down payment ($50,000) due upon acceptance of the Cleavers’ offer is effectively rejected and the new offer made by the Nelsons for $525,000 with a 15% down payment ($78,500) due upon acceptance of the Nelsons’ proposal is now in place.…

In “Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem” by Erich Fromm, Fromm states that human history was started by an act of disobedience, and that it will be ended by an act of obedience. He then says that the majority of human authorities and governments throughout history have demonized disobedience while sanctifying obedience, as their power comes from the obedience of the masses and that only obedience bred as a virtue can be sustained by such organizations. He states that the obedience of the masses and the power gained from it are what allow the governing few to enjoy the limited quantities of luxuries and other resources available only to those with power and the means to use it. He also states that the human conscience is divided into 2 types: the humanistic conscience, which instinctively knows which actions and things are human and which are inhuman, and the authoritarian conscience, which encourages us to follow the rules and behaviors taught to us by society and those in power.…

Hello, I am your daughter, Sabra's, English teacher. I wanted to take the time to enlighten you about her class room behavior and how disrespectful she can get towards me. Don't get me wrong, Sabra is not always discourteous. She has her days where she can be a model student in class and in others she can be my worst nightmare. For the last couple of weeks, Sabra has been coming to class to sleep. When I address her to wake up, she would give me an attitude or curse at me. She says marching band is the blame for her sleeping in class. If marching band is getting in the way of her education, I believe she should reconsider her choice about being in the band. I have informed you in the past about her poor grade in my class. It's as if she doesn't try to attempt and make an effort to do the material I present to the class. I would appreciate it if you have a talk with your daughter about her classroom etiquette and how to appreciate teaching staff on a day to day basis. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my letter and take into consideration the concerns I have with your daughter.…

Nomads were wanderers that had no technical home. Four groups of nomads were the Turks, Afghan and Seljuk, the Vikings, the Mongols, and the Huns. When the Mongols went to Europe, they brought the Bubonic Plague; they caused the reunification of the Russians, and helped start Pax Mongolica. They allowed the conquered to keep their ways of life and religions as long as they obeyed the foreign rulers. The decentralization of Japan and Western Europe was helpful and a hindrance by being more organized, using feudalism and causing more chaos.…

Choosing two rhetorical concepts for this assignment was not an easy task, but once I figured out what I wanted to present, the existing and invented word that came to mind were paradox and obscribtion. Not only are the terms rhetorically associated, but also they are terms that many use when writing literature, poems, or when speaking. My term obscribtion is taken from the term objective description, which is a strategy many writers use when writing. They either need to be objective or subjective and I chose the unbiased term, objective.…

He feels that Elle will not fit into his family and therefore dumps her after their romantic dinner together. Elle then comes up with the idea to get admittance into Harvard Law School to get her man back . At first she only wanted to go to Harvard due to the fact that Warner will be attending as well. Maybe having hero in the title is a bit of a stretch and an exaggeration. Have you ever indulged in a book that has your attention every minute of every page you read? I am sure the answer is yes. I think most people have related to this feeling at some point. Dave Dravecky, a book written in 1993, is the book that stole my mind from page one. A book that was so fascinating to me, I used it for my book report in school at least three times. As I reflect back on that, perhaps writing a book report on the same book in three different grades is a bit excessive…or just pathetic. After I finished reading this book the first time (I read it at least two times), I am almost certain that this is all I talked about. My family could attest to this. “Gee whiz Britton, stop with the Dave Dravecky talk”, I can hear them say. School friends so tired of hearing me rave about this book. “You have got to read this book”, I would say. Actually, come to think of it, most everybody around me could quote the book without ever reading it, thanks to my nonstop blabbing about every detail.…

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Although leaders and innovators might propose or institute change, they are not the ones who make it actually happen. It’s the people they lead and influence that actually make change happen. We work as teams to create policies and laws that are in the general public’s best interest, so why not work as a unit to rid the world of health disparities and inequalities. There are over 7 billion individuals in the world today, so it doesn’t make sense to focus on one individual at a time. It would be more productive and beneficial to focus on a group, community, or environment. Individual awareness and behavior are important, but if the goal is to initiate a positive change in the field of health behavior, the focus has to be on creating healthy supportive environments.…

    Edgar Degas Research Paper

Degas would describe his work as realistic; he called himself a realist (“Edgar Degas Biography”). He was different from impressionist painters. He was meticulous and would draw things over and over again until it was just right (Biography.com Editors). Also, when Degas would paint something, there would always be straight lines as opposed to the impressionists’ messy ones (Biography.com Editors). Though his lines were straight, the paintings would most always look blurred like an impressionistic painting (“Edgar Degas Biography”). Degas would also choose many different subjects in his art (“Edgar Degas Biography”). His color pallet was always different because of this (“Edgar Degas Biography”). Degas would not really convey many things through his paintings, but you can see how France was changing socially and economically (Biography.com Editors). You can also see that misogynistic ideas are present in his nude paintings of women, and you can see his intense anti-Semitism coming through (Biography.com Editors). The anti-Semitism came out in the last few decades of his life (“Edgar Degas Biography”). Some of his famous works are The Orchestra Musicians, Café-Concert aux Ambassadeurs, and Miss La La at the Cirque Fernando. Let’s walk through…

    Les Demoiselles D Vignon

Painted in 1907, Pablo Picasso’s Les Demoiselles D’Vignon was considered the first Cubist painting during a time where new, modern techniques were not yet appreciated in the arts world (Chave, 1994). Though recognized, the painting was still seen as mad. Picasso violated tradition art conventions through “devitalization of the human form, disuse of illusionistic space and deployment of a mixture of visual idioms” (Steefel, 1992, p.115). Every violation comes together to make a new, modern form of art known as Cubism. Picasso creates a new way of looking at the world through his Cubist works, and with Les Demoiselles, forces every viewer of the piece to look upon this seemingly broken and unfamiliar world.…
