Total Quality Management (TQM) is a system that is widely used through out organizations nowadays. It is also recognized as a function of eliminating waste inside an organization. It combines quality and management tools to reduce losses due to wasteful practices. TQM is a management philosophy that combines all organizational functions such as marketing, finance, design, engineering, production, customer service, information technology and more [1]. By combining this, TQM makes the management flow and business running smoothly all throughout an organization. TQM was introduced way back at 1950's. Full-size companies such as Ford Motor Company, Philips Semiconductor, SGL Carbon, Motorola and Toyota Motor Company use TQM as their common management tool [2]. Management department inside an organization plays a big role to TQM. Simply to say, by achieving TQM and implementing it in such a manner, organizations can reduce or eliminates waste.
ISO 9001:2000 - Quality Management System
ISO 9001:2000 is basically the most used and practiced quality management system today [3]. ISO or International Organization for Standardization is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO introduced their standards and requirements to be applicable throughout all organizations..
