Evil In Humaier's Omnipotence Of God
Humaier is discussing whether or not God created evil. He deals with Scripture and other peoples arguments on this subject. Humaier begins his article by sharing the story of Satan tempting Jesus. He follows the story with a short presentation of the Gospel. He then moves to Scripture dealing with human beings. The first passage he deals with is Ecclesiastes chapter 15. Humans were created to live in paradise, yet through fee will, they decided not to obey the commandments set before them which resulted in their banishment from paradise and separation from God. The first three are inconceivable to human kind. The last one, God revealed to us through the incarnation of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. God’s love is never blood related. He does not love or not love someone because of the family they come from. We do not have the power to do anything. All the good that we accomplish is God accomplishing them through us. We are not sufficient in ourselves to claim things for ourselves, but our sufficiency is in God. We do not have the power to do good will on our own. It is God in us helping us do good will. God does not want to kill the godless immediately, but out of His merciful heart He tolerates them longer until the day of judgement. God will one day punish the godless to demonstrate His glory. To those that say God created evil Humaier says “There are two types of bad things or evils. One evil is that of sin. God is the punisher of this evil and not the cause, creator, or effector. The second evil is an evil of punishment. That evil God wills and does out of His justice.
