What are Business Ethics?
      Business ethics is a term that is well known and used often. More familiar is the idea of general ethics and how they affect the individual on a personal level. A common misconception would be that people see a vast difference between personal ethics and business ethics. This is because people see business and personal life on two different plains (Linking Strong Moral Principles to Business Success, 2005). Ethics are ethics no matter how one looks at them. However, in a work environment ethics are handled differently than they would be on a personal level. Ethics in the workplace are fundamental to the values and principles that guide good business; without good ethics a work environment would not be able to resolve issues effectively and would ultimately fail.
      Ethics are the focus of making proper choices that may not seem like what is best for the individual at the time. Good ethics will always benefit the individual and their workplace if used on a regular basis. Ethics are the ideals of the moral majority and as such should be upheld in any place of business. They stand as the examples of those who choose to do right without expectation of fame or gain. Ethics are considered the words of wisdom that should not be ignored. They stand as the rules for a business to function effectively with supportive employees (Linking Strong Moral Principles to Business Success, 2005).
            In certain businesses upholding one’s employees to an ethical standard can be difficult. Some people see ethics as a personal ideal and forget these ideals are important in how a business functions. Without ethical leadership of a business it would be doomed to fail. It takes the moral wit of many to keep a company forging ahead in the right direction.
