1. Define Ethics:
Ethics are principles of right conduct that serve as rules for people. It is the understanding of what is right and wrong, and choosing to do what is right.
2. What are the 5 Steps to Making an Ethical Decision?
The first step in making an Ethical decision is to recognize a moral issue. The second step is to get the facts. Step three to making an ethical decision is to evaluate the alternative actions from various moral perspectives. Meaning, which option will produce the most good and cause the least harm. Step four to making an ethical decision is to make a decision after looking at all moral perspectives and choosing the right thing to do. The fifth and final step in making an ethical decision is to act, and then reflect on the decision later.
3. What is Ethical Relativism?
Ethical Relativism means that there is no general right and wrong. To elaborate on that, what we do as Americans may not be viewed as ethically right in a different country such as Korea, but that does not mean one country is right and the other is wrong. As CEO the individual has a loyalty to both his employers and shareholders. However, he has to choose one in order to keep the business a float. Choosing to lay off the thirty employees’ the CEO is sacrificing them but in the long run choosing what is best for the company and the rest of its employees.
