Media &Ethics
ˇ§Loss of wealth is nothing, loss of health means something but loss of morals means loss of everythingˇ¨ says so an Irish saying.
Every constitution of the world guarantees freedom of press and freedom of speech, but conditionally. The freedom of press and electronic media should not be misused to create a situation of the law of jungle. Free media strengthens the national unity, upholds the laws of the land and contributes towards the emotional integration of the country. The media should also not be afraid of upholding and supporting a just and righteous cause. It has to be eternally vigilant to protect the right of public and should also give a balanced view of the things and happenings. Public can be helped by media in the formation of a healthy public opinion and correct perspective of the events. Otherwise it can play havoc by suppressing any news or giving it an importance out of all proportions. Our constitution has recognized the freedom of expression and speech of the citizens, which is the basis of the freedom of press.
