Honesty In my experience, being honest with myself will gain me the respect from others in my personal and work environment.
I was involved in a group project that required a presentation to our internal customers. There were conflicts between the lead supervisor and one of the counselors. The day of the presentation I was aware that the counselor tried to sabotage our presentation just to make the supervisor look bad. I went to the department head and told him what was happening between the two. I was honest enough to tell him the real reasons behind the sabotage and only did so because I believe the sabotage was not just against the supervisor, but would reflect against the group and department as a whole.
Honesty is at the top of my list because being honest will get you ‘far’ in life. I believe that honesty is one of the utmost characteristic that a person should have. I believe the basis that defines me as a person and how others view me personally which transcend into my work ethics. Without honesty, how would you gain the trust and respect of your peers, coworkers, or people in general. My motto is ‘honesty is the best policy’.
Trustworthy
Being trustworthy is crucial to any decision making process. As a Veteran’s Service Representative, I put my trust in my team to keep sensitive info within the department, keep me up-to-date on issues within the team and trust their judgment to resolves any conflicts, come up with innovative ideas to implement and meet deadlines and pass onto veterans the correct information in which they seek guidance with.
Being trustworthy goes hand in hand with honesty. These are building blocks that build upon each other to form your character....
