A conflict here can arise with the ethic that all individuals are equal. By grouping it is possible that some groups will be overlooked. This again reinforces that the ethos and marketing orientation may struggle to work hand in hand with each other. Conclusion
Within this I have attempted to consider the influence of a modernized government with the existing Public Sector Ethos. As U.S develops as a multi-cultural nation with individuals having a wide range of diverse needs there will always be a struggle to meet all the needs of society. As the current public sector services (especially local government) have been in existence for a long time it is obvious that there needs to be changes to accommodate present day society. Although there has been a vivid illustration pointed out a series of problems with a market orientation and the public service ethic there is room for compromise.
The motivation dimension of organizations represents a necessary function that all organizations must perform. The need to motivate employees is central to the concept organization. It requires that the organization develop means to direct the activities of disparate individuals toward a common goal or output. Public organizations must establish goals and measures of employee movement toward those goals, and, in so doing, to provide structures that facilitate both essential motivation (the work itself) and extrinsic motivation (compensation and benefits).
