One of the foci of this article is on the importance of how high levels of global and domestic environmental factors will affect Walmart’s marketing decisions. Domestically Walmart has an obligation to describe in great detail their involvement in corporate social responsibility. When looking at the Walmart website, it can be seen how Walmart goes into great detail on diversity and environmental sustainability. In the United States as apposed to some European nations, the government tries to maintain as little control over businesses and their processes that involve social responsibility as possible. While in some countries in Europe a corporation’s responsibility to community is served through higher taxes by law and there for is not required to provide great detail to the community of the work it does there.
In the United States community well being is seen to by the community itself while in Europe the country is the responsible party for the welfare of the community. This is why American corporations like Walmart get involved in the communities in which they are located. Walmart’s corporate social responsibility is fulfilled in many ways some of which include community works such as recognizing local teachers, cleaning up and restoring local parks and recycling their plastic, aluminum and cardboard waste leaving a smaller carbon foot print.
Although Walmart performs these same functions when establishing locations in foreign countries it is not as a necessity but because it is how Walmart is used to doing business in the community in which it resides.
Walmart has and will continue to make their marketing decisions in the same manner as it has always previously done with out regard to the type of technological changes that comes about. Walmart will review those changes as...
