Energy Sources In 2050

This is the year 2050. On the weekends, I ride my solar powered rocket bike or fly with my water powered jet pack. My Grandpa said there used to be an energy source called coal. He also said there that there were four stages in the natural create of coal: peat, lignite, bitumen and the hardest of all and rarest, anthracite. They used to use bitumen the most.

During the week, I go to school. A solar-powered bus brings me to school. At school, we sit at our computer desks. My Grandma told me they used to have paper made from trees but now we have very few trees so we have solar-powered computers instead of using paper or notebooks. Our textbooks are "virtual" because we don't want to waste trees on textbooks.

All buildings in the city have solar panels to provide electricity as well as heating and cooling. These solar panels provide a clean energy source and greatly reduce the amount of pollution emitted into the atmosphere.

Cars have rockets on them which may be powered by either water or solar energy. Most people have cars that are both water and solar powered so if it is sunny you can use solar power and if it is dark or rainy you can use water power.

There are windmill farms that give us another source of energy. The windmills capture energy from the sun and store the energy in cells to be used in other places. There are also ocean dams which capture energy from the oceans tides. The dams are located two miles out from the coast and work like dams on rivers. They capture energy from the ocean which can then be used in other places. The dams are safe for all sea life.

As you can see, energy sources are very different than they were just a generation ago during my Grandparent's time. The new energy sources are better for the planet and come from renewable resources or sources which will never be used up.
