Human resources are the most important resources in any organization. To succeed a business needs committed staff to meet its goals and objectives. Staff must be trained and motivated by the management to achieve their potential. It is the responsibility of the human resources department to ensure the organization recruits the correct staff, and the staff receives appropriate training to ensure the organization meets its goals. Therefore, recruitment and training are central to the success of the business.
Challenges HR managers in your chosen industry will face in the future when identifying needed jobs and positions related to strategic goals and then recruiting personnel to meet workforce needs.
The Navy faces many difficulties and challenges in the field of human resources. The Department of Defense has large expectations, which are continually changing and becoming harder to meet. Some of those challenges include:
• Work Environment and Organizational Structure
• Status and Reward System
• Recruitment
Work Environment and Organizational Structure
Sailors are located in about 120 countries and consist of roughly 295,000 men and women. Their workplace may vary in many different ways. Most commonly, out at sea on a ship, in a submarine or on the front lines with a marine unit. The nature and design of these work centers do not allow for tremendous amounts of space or access to the outside world. But regardless of location, the organization makes every effort to train, equip and deploy all its forces with both the military skills and the professional education to help them succeed. (Borlik, 2003)
Since the military organization is designed to function in a combat situation, a large part of the day-to-day operation is designed to train members on how to function in that kind of an environment. There are few environments filled with more critical incidents or crises than the military.
